Roughly $60–80 per day for a car and English-speaking driver including fuel, split across everyone in the vehicle. For two people over ten days that is the largest single line in a mid-range budget, and for most visitors it is still the right call — it turns three-hour transfers into flexible days.
Trains

Buses and tuk-tuks
Buses run everywhere for pennies and are slow, crowded and an experience. Tuk-tuks in towns cost roughly LKR 80–120 per kilometre — use a metered app in Colombo and agree the fare elsewhere before you get in.
