I’ll be heading up north to Jaffna soon, but my time is limited to just two days. I’d love to get a real taste of the culture, see some highlights, and maybe squeeze in a bit of island-hopping or local food. For anyone who has done a short trip there, what’s the smartest way to plan it? What would you prioritize if you only had 48 hours in Jaffna?

If you prefer not to ride, tuk-tuks are cheap and drivers know all the main spots. I managed to visit Casuarina Beach, Nainativu Island (by ferry), and the Keerimalai freshwater springs in one day. Don’t miss Jaffna crab curry for dinner, it’s unforgettable.

I did a short trip to Jaffna last year and the best way was to rent a scooter. Day one I spent in the city itself , climbed the old Jaffna Fort for sunset, tried the famous Rio Ice Cream, and walked through the lively market. Day two I rode out to Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil and then took the causeway to Kayts Island. The islands are so peaceful and full of local charm.
